Monday 9th August – Up Late

Day

Dean is away, so I’m extra busy.

Night

I drove over to Maz’s, and worked on my website. We drove Bronwen to her place and her work at one stage, and I stayed up too late.

Tuesday 10th August – Pizza

Day

I am sick. Not hugely, but I have a sore throat. It sucks.

Evening

I drove Nicole to Roma Street, then had a little snooze, bought pizza, went to Woolworths, drove to Bronwen’s parents’, where Bronwen was, ate pizza, and drove home and went to bed. It has been raining on and off most of the day, and has been quite heavy from time to time.

Wednesday 11th August – Exhibition Day Holiday

Day

Today is a holiday here in Brisbane, but I had to work. I felt quite sick and had a fairly unpleasant day alone at work, slowly drinking creaming soda to keep the sickness away.

Night

Bronwen and I went and saw “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” at Southbank. Quite an interesting movie, albeit very weird—recommended, though not highly.

Thursday 12th August – The Cable-Tie

Day

I hit myself in the eye with a cable-tie. It hurt, lots, much, and greatly.

Night

Bronwen and I went and watched “The Expendables” at Southbank. Good, hard-hitting 80’s style action—though not fantastic. Still, you can’t beat Schwarzenegger, Willis and Stallone together in the same scene.

Due, I figure, to the earlier cable-tie incident, towards the middle of the movie, I started to get a sore eye, which spread to my left ear, which became quite hot. Strangely, from tomorrow, it began to feel as though it had water in it.

Friday 13th August – Valerie

Night

I arrived home with Bronwen, then shortly later, Valerie and her boyfriend arrived, then shortly after them, Maz arrived, then Amy’s friend arrived, then Blaise and her boyfriend, and all on a game night so there was no parking.

Later Night

Maz, Bronwen and I went to Halim’s for curry.

Saturday 14th August – Spring Rolls

Morning

Valerie and her boyfriend unpacked their spaceship (van), and returned it. I drove via the bakery for breakfast, and then up to see Bronwen, who was looking after her parents’ place.

Afternoon

I lazed about in the sun, eventually falling asleep. At some stage, we walked to Woolworths and bought chips and a drink, which I ate and drank, respectively.

Night

I drove over to Maz’s, bought eight spring rolls and ate seven of them, blew up an air bed for Valerie and her boyfriend, and am now back at Maz’s, working on my website.

Sunday 15th August – Surfer’s Paradise

Morning

I drove up to Bronwen’s parents’ to get Bronwen, via the bakery for a veggie pasty, and then drove Valerie and her boyfriend to Surfer’s Paradise, and on to the Gold Coast airport. We spent a little time at the beach—Bronwen went for a swim while the saner of us avoided the icy-cold water—but traffic was awful and we spent more time driving.

Evening

Bronwen and I drove to Nandos, via Maz’s, for a very late lunch, then I had a snooze, then did some washing, and am going to skip dinner and have an early night. I have what feels like water in my ear—it’s been there ever since it got hot while I was watching “The Expendables” after I’d hit myself in the eye with a cable-tie at work—but I can’t think of any reason why, I’ve not been swimming recently.

11:30pm

I’m off to bed.

Monday 16th August – Doctor

Morning

My ear is still odd, so I called in sick and made an appointment to see a doctor. Probably being paranoid, but seems being safe rather than sorry would be a good idea.

2pm

I drove to the doctor, who said I’ll probably live, and it’s probably a blocked Eustachian canal, so I drove home again, and now I’m sitting at home, feeling like a lopsided idiot.

Night

I drove Blaise to the shops, then picked up Bronwen—traffic was awful. Bronwen and I then had a lovely curry from Halim’s, and I drove to the chemist and got drugs to combat my illness.

Tuesday 17th August – Pressurised Head

Day

I had a terrible day, feeling quite unwell all day—my head is pressurised, and my right eye is rather scratched and sandy feeling.

Evening

I formatted my phone, then got very worried when it wouldn’t complete a ROM flash. Fortunately, flashing a different ROM worked—it would appear this one is a corrupted download.

Night

I picked Bronwen up from climbing, drove and got pizza and things from Woolworths, ate said pizza, and got a call from work. A quick drive to Bronwen’s parents’ place to pick up clothes, a trip to the IGA for milk, and Kara and Amy had arrived. Work problems are perhaps resolved, or will resolve themselves overnight, and I’m off to bed.

Wednesday 18th August – MSN

Day

I appear to have fixed a problem with my phone that’s been plaguing me for ages. Windows Live Messenger (formerly MSN Messenger) on my phone has been having an issue for a long time now, where after a while it stops working, and won’t work again until I restart the phone—very annoying, to say the least. Today, I changed from the 3services to 3netaccess APN, which I think stops MSN being routed through my “free data”, and instead using “normal data”, and this appears to have fixed it. I’m very happy, in a geeky kind of way.

Night

I had a nice dinner and went for a walk, with MSN working all the time.

Thursday 19th August – SIM Cards

Day

I got in trouble for being late, and failed to have the on-call policy modified in the way I wanted, though in retrospect, it basically has been modified in the way I wanted, so I probably shouldn’t complain.

I also seem to have fixed another problem with my phone that’s been bothering me for ages. It synchronises its SMS messages with Exchange, but I’ve never been able to actually send or reply to SMS messages via Outlook, for no apparent reason. Then, when testing some SIM cards today, it suddenly started working—I put in a non-working Telstra SIM, then a working Optus SIM, and bam… I received the notification that I could now send and receive SMS via Outlook. I’ve put my 3 SIM back in, and it still works. Quite a useful feature, though confusingly difficult to enable it appears. It works for Maz, but not Kieran—and we’ve all got the same phones, on the same carrier, with the same version of Exchange.

Night

I walked up to Bronwen’s parents’ place, and snoozed there, missing dinner.

Friday 20th August – Chez Tessa

Day

I got up earlier than usual, drove Bronwen to work, and was at work five minutes early. My ear is still blocked, which is very annoying, but my eye is mostly better—perhaps entirely better.

Night

It has been raining on and off all day, and is still quite wet. I drove over to Maz’s, and we had dinner from Chez Tessa. Later on, I went for a walk, and eventually met up with Bronwen, on her way home from the pub.

Saturday 21st August – Democracy

Day

I drove to Bronwen’s, discussed politics, and ate chips.

Afternoon

I drove over to Maz’s, and so far we’ve walked to Woolworths, eaten biscuits, and drunk iced coffee.

Night

Bronwen, Maz and I went for a walk through the exciting and mysterious Bardon area… then had a very filling curry from Halim’s Indian Taj, arguing politically all the while. I’m now back at Maz’s, amusing myself commenting on various people’s politically enthused Facebook status updates—especially the abusive ones (who all seem to be Labor tragics, unsurprisingly I suppose).

3am

Eek, nearly 3 AM. Must sleep.
