Sick, Retiring, RAM & Comedy

Bronwen at Point Lenana, Mount Kenya, 4985 metres

Monday 20th February – Dinner & Kenya Photos

Day

I worked.

Night

Bronwen’s Dad came over. Her Aunt and Uncle had planned to, but sadly Gavin has taken a turn for the worse and they are with Valerie. We had dinner and looked at photos of Bronwen’s climb of Mount Kenya.

Tuesday 21st February – Sickly

Morning

I got up, still feeling unwell, and headed in to work.

Evening

Work wasn’t the most fun, while feeling not the best, but I managed.

Night

Bronwen and I watched Top Gear whilst eating pizza, followed by ice cream. Hopefully this will help my sore throat go away.

Nedmartin’s Dot Org’s new menu

Wednesday 22nd February – Runny Nose

Day

I worked. My nose ran, which was annoying.

Night

Bronwen stayed at her parents’ place, and went and visited Gavin, who has sadly taken a turn for the worse and is in hospital. I stayed up late redesigning  nedmartin.org’s menu system.

8GB of new RAM for my laptop

Thursday 23rd February – Sick & At Home

Day

I called in sick and stayed home. Unfortunately, I am actually sick—my head hurts, my nose hurts and won’t stop running, and I don’t feel motivated.

Friday 24th February – The “Retirement”  & The Sit Down Comedy Club

Day

I worked, feeling much better.

Night

I drove through the increasingly serious rain and picked Bronwen up from town, then drove to her parents’ place—it’s her Dad’s “retirement”/going away party tonight—and then down to the Sit Down Comedy Club at The Paddo Tavern. After, we drove back to Bronwen’s parents’, where the party continued.

Saturday 25th February – Sizzlers, RAM & Killer Elite

Morning

I slept, eventually getting up to go down to the post office and pick up my new 8 GB of RAM for my laptop, which I installed and—so far—haven’t had any problems. Everything is, as expected, much more usable when running evil things like Photoshop at the same time as Fire “memory eating” Fox. Apparently a stack of large photos in Photoshop, while running Dreamweaver, a few handfuls of ajax-heavy tabs in Firefox, sometimes Eclipse, and the bucket load of other little things I tend to leave running, and then trying to stitch a large panorama with AutoPanoPro was just too much for 4 GB.

Afternoon

After not eating breakfast (though we didn’t get up until nearly lunchtime), Bronwen and I went to Sizzlers for lunch.

Night

Somewhat unexpectedly, Bronwen and I went and watched “Killer Elite” at Southbank. Fortunately, as we didn’t have much time to get there and it has been raining pretty much all day and is wet and unpleasant, we managed to get parking under the cinema—apparently they have security guards to help people park without getting squashed by the gates, or getting into fights, or whatever it is that people who see movies at South Bank need help with when trying to park.

Sunday 26th February – Domino, Fightcorps.com & Chez Tessa

Day

Bronwen and I had a quiet day at home. We watched “Domino”, did some housework, I built some of the www.fightcorps.com site for Sarah, Bronwen’s parents dropped over, and we generally relaxed.

Night

I dropped Bronwen off at her parents’ place and continued on to Maz’s. Kieran, Maz and I drove to Chez Tessa for dinner, and met Clint after. I managed to leave Maz’s before it was too late, getting home only a tiny bit into tomorrow.

5KG bag of rice

Monday 27th February – Five Kilograms of Rice

Day

I worked, quite hard.

Night

I drove over to Bronwen’s parents’ place, where Bronwen was, and said hi—as well as walking to Woolies and buying 5 kilograms of rice, a box of muesli bars, and a litre of soymilk.

Dominos Pizza

Tuesday 28th February – Rushing

Day

I had a busy day at work, staying there late.

Night

Bronwen’s Aunt Hillary called while Bronwen was at climbing, and a big rush ensued. They were soon to leave for the airport to fly home, and Bronwen was at climbing. Bronwen started riding back, and I drove and met her, and we rushed to Gavin and Valerie’s, and got there just in time to say goodbye.

After that, I dropped Bronwen back to her bike, and relaxed for a little bit before going to get pizza, forgetting to put some windscreen washer water in my car, remembering to do the dishes, forgetting to put on some washing, eating my pizza, and watching Top Gear.
