Tuesday 18th January – Back to Work

Day

I went to work.

Night

I was planning to move stuff from Maz’s back to my place, but it was raining, so I didn’t.

Wednesday 19th January – Squatting at Home

Day

I went to work.

Evening

Bronwen and I collected most of my stuff from Maz’s and brought it back to my place, then drove through a torrential downpour to a pasta place for dinner.

Night

Bronwen and I tried “camping” at my place, on an airbed, surrounded by a lot of nothing, and quite a bit less paint than usual.

Thursday 20th January – Trusty Airbed

Day

I worked.

Evening

I rushed home, went to the supermarket, bought a few things, did a bit of emergency washing by hand, hung out my washing, rushed to Maz’s, and from there to Nandos via Kieran’s, then rushed back to Maz’s, picked up the last of my stuff, rushed to Bronwen’s parents’ place via my place to drop off some of the stuff, got Bronwen, rushed out to her place to give a key to her flatmate, and dropped off some more stuff there. I then drove home, dropping Bronwen off at her parents’ place, and went to sleep in my trusty airbed.

Friday 21st January – Tacos

Day

I worked.

Night

I met Bronwen on the river walk, and had a look at mostly destroyed “Drift” restaurant, then Bronwen and I drove up to her parents’ place, bought some things from Woolworths, and had tacos for dinner.

Saturday 22nd January – Moving Maz

Day

I slept in, then headed over to Maz’s via my place—where I met the electricians, who told me that it would take a lot of work to get the power fixed, so they’ve put a power point on the meter box and I should get an extension lead—to help him pack for his move, found out that the removalists were coming closer to four than one, so drove out to Bronwen’s and Bunning’s, where I didn’t buy any power leads, lights or fans… despite meaning to. After that, I drove back to Maz’s, helped him, his mother, Ian, and two removalists, pack things into—and subsequently out of—a removalist truck, and arrange them tightly on Maz’s aunt’s veranda.

Night

Bronwen and I attempted to go to Sizzlers, but most of Queensland was already queued up waiting for a seat, so we went to “A Night in India” instead, which then took so long to serve our food that we probably could have gone to Sizzlers. The food was, however, good.

Later Night

I am trying to ignore the BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice”, that Bronwen is watching up at her parents’ place while they’re at the island, and instead using the internet to internetise. It was quite late, past two o’clock, by the time we went to bed.

Sunday 23rd January – Hedge Trimming & Sizzlers

Morning

Bronwen and I meant to get up early and go work on her garden before the sun got hot… but after watching all two hundred forty hours of “Pride and Prejudice” before bed last night, it got kind of late and we slept in. So, once the sun was nice and hot, we drove to Bronwen’s place and I spent the next two to three days trimming her hedge into a more hedge-like shape, and removing hedge from non-hedge places. I discovered a two-car garage, a mailbox, and the neighbours’ house.

Afternoon

After a few weeks of hedge-trimming, I had a shower, lay down to recover from the sunstroke, and eventually drove to Toowong Sizzlers, where we ate far too much, and went looking in K-Mart for lights, but they don’t have what I want.

Evening

Bronwen sorted beads, while I snoozed, used her parents’ internet and power to re-join the modern century, and wrote my journal.

Night

We helped Bronwen’s parents’ unpack, watched some of “Bran Nue Dae”, I had left over curry for dinner, and drove back to my place where I camped the night on my airbed.
